XMG Captains Draft 2.0

The XMG CD 2.0 is the long-awaited sequel to the XMG Captains Draft Invitational which was the first and until now, only, Captains Draft tournament ever featuring professional teams. This season, we crank up the prize pool, add another two teams, and a compendium with tons of rewards as well as a legendary Juggernaut set which both contribute to the prize pool.

The action kicks off at 12:30PM EST / 17:30 CET / 00:30 SGT today, with Team Secret versus Power Rangers starting off the round robin which has all teams play each other once in a two-game series. Following that, at 3PM EST / 20:00 CET / 03:00 SGT, Team Secret face Evil Geniuses.

The round robin runs for three to four weeks from October 31st through November 21st. The following four days (November 22nd-25th) is a “buffer period” to catch up in case any matches were impossible to play during the three week period.

The top 4 teams advance from the round robin into the playoffs, which take place on December 19th-21st. Some time inbetween the round robin and playoffs, a BO3 ARDM All-Star showmatch will take place for 1% of the tournament prize pool.

Prize Pool Distribution:

For this season, we have a different prize pool distribution to the norm. Since all teams spend time and put in an effort to take part in the tournament, we believe it makes sense to reward all teams for their participation. At the same time, we want every single placement to matter, and therefore have a gradually increasing prize with every “step up the ladder” a team goes. These steps become bigger with each placement.

The prize money is distributed in the following way:

Total prize pool:

$50,000 + 25% of compendium purchases + 10% of "Balance of the Bladekeeper" Juggernaut set purchases.

• 1st place: 35%
• 2nd place: 23%
• 3rd place: 15%
• 4th place: 10%
• 5th place: 6.5%
• 6th place: 4.5%
• 7th place: 3%
• 8th place: 2%
• Winners of All-Star ARDM BO3: 1%

The Compendium and Juggernaut Set:

The compendium is priced at $8 and 25% of purchases go to the prize pool. This video showcases the loads of different goodies coming with the compendium which can be purchased here.
